A couple weeks ago, I announced I would be taking some time off. Between the busy Fall season, and Christmas, and moving, and helping my husband with a business venture, I needed to step back. For the first time in my five years of business, I needed to step away. At the time, I thought I needed a couple months, but here I am, feeling refreshed and ready to go! Most importantly, I feel more focused on what it most important to me in my business, and THAT is what I'm brimming with excitement to share with you.
When I began my business in 2010, I was completely ignorant on running a business. I had a passion for photography, creativity, and marketing, but business practices? Clueless. I had a focus, though, to provide quality images while maintaing attractive price points. I found myself over booking, never saying no, and being paid less than minimum wage per hour.
Being the lover of education I am, I began researching pricing models, taking classes, purchasing workshops, and they all said the same thing. Charge more. Charge MORE. Mandate ordering in person. Sell giant canvases. Don't sell digital files. So I listened, and made some new pricing, and felt sick about it the entire six months it was in place.
My husband says I would be great at running a non-profit ;)
I'm going back to my roots; back to the focus and goal I started out with. Highest quality photography, with attainable price points, and products people WANT. This includes digital files. This includes straight forward purchasing. This leaves out high pressure order sessions.
I'm not a salesperson, nor do I want to be. It's that simple for me. I love capturing moments for my clients. I love feeling the appreciation from each client as they love their images. I love feeling at peace about my pricing and sales structure.
I'm an artist first.
I'm unrolling my idea of a pricing model. A fair, all-inclusive, model with payment options for every session. I know it is risky to be so open and run a business. I know it's completely frowned upon by all the experts. I know I have to do this. Check out the Investment page, and see for yourself. I'm excited to continue my business, and feel good about every step. I can never thank my clients enough for your continued support!
